The next phase of the $500 million Fortitude Valley station redevelopment will see improved commuter access for the more than 25,000 people who pass through the centre each day.
Fortitude Valley station will receive a face lift targeting accessibility and lighting issues, often labelled as “dark” and “difficult to access” it is one of only four stations that are serviced by all passenger train lines in Brisbane’s network.
The redevelopment, being overseen by global fund manager LaSalle Investment Management, will now “reinvigorate” the previously under-activated area by revamping it into a mixed-use precinct.
Commuters will now see the entrances of the train station upgraded with a renovated Brunswick Street facade providing a double height canopy entrance, as part of the second phase of construction.
Both Valley Metro and the Fortitude Valley station are at the centre of Brisbane council’s massive urban renewal area.
Within Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley there are currently 642 apartments under construction across three projects, with a further 3,700 across 16 projects in planning or proposed.
