The Deague Group has released their plan to build 300 lots on a plot in the Alpine Shire in Victoria. Originally a tobacco farm, this plot of land was bought earlier in 2022 and will be transformed, directly to respond to a land and housing shortage in the snowy area.
Sitting at the base of Mount Hotham in Bright, this popular holiday destination has been calling for an increase in housing options. The Deague Group will action this need on the 40ha site, with housing developments from 300 square metres to 900 square metres.
The skyrocketing property prices have caused housing availability and affordability issues in the town, with long-time locals being priced out.
The residences are said to reflect the heritage nature of the town and will include timber and stone architecture.
In response to the town’s concern for a development on the edge of a quiet town at the base of the Alps, the mayor of Alpine Shire said it would be good news for a township struggling to house vital employees and people keen on a tree-change.
