Brisbane’s First International Mega-Cruise Terminal Ready by 2020

Brisbane’s first international mega-cruise terminal is full steam ahead, with the state government releasing fly through footage of what the $158-million investment will look like.

State Minister Cameron Dick says the terminal will put the city on the world map, attracting the world’s largest cruise ships.

The project set for completion by 2020, will generate around $5 billion in economic value to Queensland over the next 15 years and is said to be a turning point for the tourism sector. Open to all cruise lines the facility will be able to cater to cruise vessels of all sizes including the largest cruise ships in the world.

It is estimated the project will produce over 240 jobs a year over its two-year construction period and a further 49 operational jobs each year over the next 20 years, while the terminal will also create opportunities for local businesses, traders and tourism operators.

Bookings have already opened for the first cruise season, ready to set sail in 2020, with 180 bookings already made for ships in its first year.
