Finalising the contract is a key milestone that locks in the companies that will now deliver the major construction works. CIMIC subsidiaries Pacific Partnerships, CPB Contractors and UGL will all be employed as part of a consortium known as the Pulse consortium on the public-private partnership (PPP).
CIMIC Group Chief Executive Officer Michael Wright said CPB Contractors would deliver design and construction in a joint venture with Italy-based tunnelling company Ghella, BAM International and UGL, with UGL providing project maintenance services over 24 years.
“CIMIC Group’s integrated approach to PPP projects is based on our end-to-end capabilities across a project’s life cycle,” Wright said.
Cross River Rail will service the whole of South East Queensland allowing additional trains to run more often integrating with new roads and bus services.
With key contracts now finalised, the Pulse Consortium can now establish a site presence and prepare for major construction which will commence later this year, as scheduled.
This will also ensure the Project’s delivery remains on track for construction completion by 2024, after which a detailed testing program will begin.
