Gippsland roads to receive $57M for maintenance

A road maintenance initiative has been announced by the Victorian Government with the aim to upgrade the main roads across Gippsland to give drivers safer, smoother and stronger roads.

Jaala Pulford Minister for Roads has today announced $57.4 million was being invested into rebuilding, resurfacing and repairing around 220 kilometres of roads across the region.

The upgrades will include parts of the Princes Highway, South Gippsland Highway, Bass Highway, Korumburra-Inverloch Road, Maryvale Road, Foster-Promontory Road and Rosedale-Longford Road.

Further to this regional councils are delivering 133 improvement projects on municipal roads due to the state governments $100 million ‘Fixing Country Roads program’. This includes rebuilding sections of local roads, sealing gravel roads and strengthening bridges.

Ms. Pulford said the government is fixing roads across Gippsland to give everyone a safer journey.

A member for Eastern Victoria Region Harriet Shing said sections of roads across our region including the Princes, Bass and South Gippsland highways will be rebuilt to ensure Victorians can get to where they’re going on smoother and more reliable roads.
