The Mine & Roster
Located in the heart of western Tasmania, this hard rock mine is supported by a comfortable and well-equipped mining camp offering high-quality meals. The preferred roster options are 5/2, 4/3, or 8/6, with DIDO from your home location. FIFO may also be offered for the right candidate.
The Role
As an Underground Projects Specialist, reporting to the Manager of Capital Projects, you will oversee a variety of capital projects within underground operations. Drawing on your extensive project management expertise, you will drive successful project delivery, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, and within budget. You'll work closely with project teams, mining operations, and key stakeholders throughout the entire project lifecycle-from initiation through to closeout-while continuously seeking improvements in project management processes. Current projects include upgrades to the mine dewatering system, installation of a primary ventilation fan, fibre optic enhancements, and fitout of the underground workshop. Your core responsibilities will include:
- Ensure that projects are undertaken safely, undertake proactive safety assurance of contractors and employees and demonstrate personnel commitment to working safely.
- Ensure that projects are delivered in line with the schedule and budget.
- Work within the Project Management System and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Assure that the requirements of the Contractor Management Procedures are implemented.
- Work proactively and collaboratively with stakeholders to define, develop and deliver project outcomes.
- Work collaboratively to identify opportunities for Continuous Improvement across the operation.
Your Skills and Experience
You will have a background in mining or heavy industry, with experience managing and delivering complex projects in mining, construction, heavy engineering, or similar sectors. You'll bring:
- A tertiary qualification in an engineering discipline
- 8+ years of experience in a similar role
- Proven ability in effective communication, feedback, and collaboration with diverse teams
- Strong leadership and mentorship skills to guide and support others
