The Role

As a Senior Mining Engineer, reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, you will play a pivotal role in leading and coordinating the technical team, while ensuring the safe and efficient execution of the weekly mining plan. You will have the opportunity to lead a group of skilled Mine Engineers, guide the team through challenging and diverse mining methods, and ensure alignment with operational goals. Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and coordinate drill and blast, as well as ancillary designs, ensuring alignment with the weekly plan.
  • Conceptual and detailed design of all aspects of an underground mine including but not limited to ventilation, backfill, electrical and other services as required.
  • Liaise with operational and service departments to enable a strong short to medium-term planning process to deliver operational needs.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to Engineers, ensuring optimal planning execution.
  • Act as the main point of contact for the Underground Mine Foreman, holding the technical team accountable.
  • Oversee stope reconciliation, identifying areas of risk and opportunity.
  • Ensure compliance with site and statutory requirements, particularly with blast vibration monitoring and reporting.
  • Provide coverage for the Technical Services Superintendent role when required, offering statutory guidance based on your expertise.

Your Value

You will bring at least 5+ years of experience as a Senior Mine Engineer in an underground hard rock operation, demonstrating strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Along with having a strong work ethic, interpersonal and communication skills you will also have;-

  • Degree in Mining Engineering
  • Extensive underground mining experience, with expertise in production, ventilation, projects, paste fill, and planning/scheduling
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and mining software (preferably Deswik)
  • Current driver's license
  • Highly motivated and self-driven
  • Strong leadership and coaching abilities
  • Professional, honest, and confidential approach to work
  • Ability to work proactively and effectively within a team of professionals
