The Opportunity

A unique opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Director to lead a major tailings retreatment project at one of Australia's most established underground mining operations based on the East Coast of Australia. As part of a dynamic team, you'll play a pivotal role in overseeing the delivery of a $400m project set to begin construction in 2026/7, with a projected 2-3 year construction period.

About the Role

As the Project Director, you will be responsible for managing the entire project lifecycle, from the FEED phase through to the final handover to operations. You will lead a team, ensuring safety, financial success, and technical excellence while maintaining a strong focus on continuous improvement and risk management. You key responsibilities will include (however not limited to);-

  • Lead the Tailings Project, ensuring successful delivery from the FEED phase to construction and commissioning.
  • Build and manage a high-performing team of engineers, specialists, and contractors.
  • Oversee all aspects of the project, including engineering, procurement, construction, and operational readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and safety standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation across all phases of the project.

Your Value

The success of this project depends on your extensive experience and strong background in the following key areas:

  • Extensive experience as a Project Director in the mining sector, with a strong background in fixed plant and minerals processing facilities.
  • Previous experience delivering similar projects upwards of $400m in value
  • Proven ability to manage large-scale projects from concept through to commissioning.
  • Solid financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost management.
  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on team development and performance management.
