About the Role:

The successful Senior Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing site operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest standards. However, this role extends beyond traditional site supervision, requiring active involvement in business-level activities, contributing to planning, coordination, and overall business success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Site Leadership & Supervision:
  • Directly supervise and mentor one leading hand and their team on assigned project sites.
  • Ensure all works are executed in accordance with project plans, specifications, and safety regulations.
  • Proactively manage site activities, resources, and subcontractors to optimise efficiency and productivity.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, toolbox talks, and safety audits.
  • Troubleshoot site issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Maintain accurate site records, including progress reports, plant and equipment logs, and incident reports.
• Business Level Involvement:
  • Serve as a key point of contact and communication between site teams and the office.
  • Assist in project planning, scheduling, and forecasting.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of project methodologies and procedures.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide valuable insights from site operations.
  • Assist with the procurement of materials and plant.
  • Contribute to the review and improvement of safety and quality management systems.
  • Potentially assist with tender preparation and project costing.

About the Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Proven experience as a supervisor within the civil construction industry (minimum 5 years).
• Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and manage site teams.
• A strong understanding of civil construction processes, techniques, and best practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with site crews, office staff, clients, and subcontractors.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• A proactive and results-oriented approach.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• A commitment to safety and quality.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting plans and specifications.
• Strong computer literacy (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
• A valid driver's license.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., First Aid, Working at Heights, Confined Spaces) are highly desirable.
