The two major contractors have been awarded contracts to design and construct the $400 million Port Botany Rail Line Duplication and Cabramatta Loop project by the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC).
The projects are set to employ over 600 employees throughout construction.
John Holland was awarded the Port Botany project. This will see 2.9-kilometers of track added to the already existing Port Botany corridor which will increase freight capacity and decrease the need for road transpiration.
The 1.65-kilometers Cabramatta loop will allow freight trains travelling in either direction to pass each other. This project will be developed by Fulton Hogan.
The extra rail lines will help meet future demand at Port Botany. Both projects are set to commence in early 2022.
