According to the latest data from Matt Tolich at Trade Me Jobs, a job finder search engine for those looking for employment in New Zealand, March 2022 saw vacancies hit an all-time high.
Whilst 2019 saw a 16% increase in job vacancies for a world before the Covid-19 pandemic, 2022 has recorded an increase of 18%. This number is compared with the December quarter.
The Northland region saw a 34% increase in job listings when compared with the same period last year.
The average salary in New Zealand is also rising, to match the demand. The Bay of Plenty, Canterbury, Gisborne and Marlborough regions with record highs.
Employers are finding it tricky to stay above the competitive market, as most Kiwis report keeping their eye out for a better offer.
Change is likely ahead with border closures finally lifting, so Tolich recommends that those looking for work in the nation should make use of the current climate.
