Australia’s largest regional arts centre, the Geelong Arts Centre project, celebrates a key milestone.
Builders placed the last beam on the 4-storey structure, the $140 million Little Malop Street redevelopment. 1 in 3 builders on the project hail from Geelong itself and the region is celebrating the local partnerships, skills, innovation, and employment opportunities that the redevelopment has offered the city.
The project was designed by ARM, the award-winning architects from Victoria. The Little Malop Street redevelopment is the largest stage of Geelong Arts Centre’s transformation, following the refurbishment of the Playhouse Theatre in 2010 and the $38.5 million Ryrie Street redevelopment in 2019.
The project includes 2 new theatres, an outdoor atrium and dining options.
The project will create more than 600 jobs during construction and is set to be complete in 2023.
