The future of public transportation in Western Australia is brighter than ever, with designs for the highly-anticipated METRONET Byford Station now available for public viewing and commentary. This state-of-the-art facility is poised to be an integral part of the METRONET Byford Rail Extension, bringing unparalleled connectivity and convenience to residents in Byford and the greater Serpentine-Jarrahdale region.
Unmatched Connectivity Through Multimodal Platforms
The upcoming Byford Station is slated to feature three expansive platforms catering to both the Armadale Line and Australind passengers. Complementing the rail service, the station will also introduce a seven-stand bus interchange, facilitating smooth transitions between different modes of public transport.
Infrastructure Beyond Just Transit
Planning for more than just the commute, the station complex is designed to feature roughly 400 parking bays, inclusive of ACROD spaces. Cyclists haven’t been forgotten, either; secure shelters for approximately 100 bicycles will be provided. These features are further enhanced by a focus on community safety, with bright lighting and CCTV installations throughout the station.
Have Your Say
This is more than just a project; it’s an opportunity for community involvement. The public can actively participate by commenting on the design and development applications until September 2023. Your voice matters in shaping the future of public transportation in the region.
A Seamless Journey Awaits
Upon completion of the Byford Rail Extension, local residents can look forward to a seamless 42-minute train ride to the Perth CBD. The extension will stretch the Armadale Line by an impressive eight kilometres south, directly into one of Australia’s fastest-growing areas, Byford.
Ministerial Insights
Rita Saffioti, the Transport Minister, lauded the forthcoming station as a catalyst for local business and community growth. “The well-designed lighting and CCTV installations will contribute to heightened community safety in and around the station,” Saffioti commented. She further added, “This design embodies modernity and functionality, connecting Perth’s south-east with the CBD in a manner that is quick, reliable, and cost-effective.”
The METRONET Byford Station is not just another stop along the line; it’s a leap towards a better-connected, more accessible Western Australia. Stay tuned for more updates as this transformative project progresses.
