Melbourne’s waterfront will receive a new luxury hotel as part of a $450 million development to transform Yarra river’s northern bank into an entertainment hub.
Designed by Fender Katsalidis and operated by American hotel group SH Hotels & Resorts, the 280 room hotel development will feature apartments, a function centre, bars and restaurants.
The hotel will create 551 ongoing jobs, with 47 more set to staff the luxury function centre and retail outlets.
Minister for Jobs, Innovation and Trade Martin Pakula said Riverlee’s investment is great news for the economy.
“Riverlee’s investment is great news for Victorians – it will create more than 500 new local jobs and support both hospitality suppliers and retailers.”
“Securing one of the world’s top luxury hotel operators to build in Victoria is a clear sign of confidence in our visitor numbers, our economy, and our reputation as a city of great food and drink.”
Construction on the development is expected to begin in 2020 and will be due for completion in 2022.
